Growing Caldor Fire prompts evacuation orders in California
, 2:44 AM EET By Wilson Wong and Alicia Victoria Lozano A rapidly expanding wildfire in Northern California seriously injured two people and prompted mandatory evacuation orders for thousands of residents and tourists in El Dorado County on Tuesday morning. The Caldor Fire, which ignited Saturday evening in the Omo Ranch area, about 60 miles east of Sacramento, exploded Tuesday from 6,500 acres in the morning to roughly 30,000 acres by the evening hours, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, or Cal Fire.
